Insights and Highlights from Capacity4dev’s Coordination Lead
From 20 June to 22 June 2022, I had the opportunity to participate in the European Development Days, an annual event organized by the European Commission DG INTPA. The services delivered included the official representation of Capacity4dev Community of development professionals and Coordination Lead of a team of 20 people, I was responsible for managing the team, overseeing and developing the creative design of our stand, and ensuring that all technical solutions were in place. This work required high-level time-management and organisational skills as there were presented 4,5K people from around the world each day.
The European Development Days is a forum for international cooperation and development that brings together experts, policymakers, civil society organizations, and development practitioners from around the world to exchange ideas and experiences. The event was held in Brussels, Belgium. The added value of this event is to extend the network among thousands of development professionals from all over the globe, and gain valuable business contacts.
As a Coordination Lead, I was tasked with ensuring that our team had everything they needed to succeed both virtually and in place. This included creating a schedule of activities, assigning tasks, and overseeing the work of each team member. It was a challenging role, but with prepared training of the team everything went smoothly and the event was a big success with many deliverables among which highlights of our Capacity4dev Community.
One of my favorite aspects of the event was the creative design of our stand. Our team worked hard to create an eye-catching and informative display that showcased our organization’s work and achievements. We received a lot of positive feedback from visitors, and I was proud of the team’s hard work and dedication. As this was the first EDD after Covid-19 pandemic, most of the team was not familiar with European Commission’s organised events. The challenging part was that we had to create the design from the scratch with limited amount of knowledge from previous EDD versions.
Another exciting aspect of the European Development Days was the opportunity to attend workshops and seminars led by experts in the field of international development. I was able to learn about the latest trends, best practices, and innovative solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing our world today.
Overall, the experience of delivering services at the European Development Days was one of the most rewarding for the future clients from the development community. I was able to meet new people, learn new things, and contribute to the success of our team. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such an important and meaningful event, and I look forward to attending future editions of the European Development Days.
